The Computer Society was originally founded in 2008 by Yevgeniya Kovalchuck in an effort to promote the use of IT.
In this form the society strived to organise events for those interested in computing and related fields of study. These events varied from external industry experts taking lectures and seminars to lecturers arranging out-of-hours sessions. The society took every opportunity to arrange trips and tours to small local firms and larger international computing companies.
2009 saw a change in the executive committee and a change in premises, the society would build on its existing objectives of the previous year, adding services to members such as a Virtual Help Desk, an a mentorship and guidance programme, again for members.
